It is hard not to recognize the beauty in the hand-hewn barn beam timbers that were rescued from vintage structures made centuries ago. Their structural and decorative purposes are only limited by your imagination and can be used for both the interior or exterior of your home.
Boards & Beams offers a variety of real antique reclaimed wood beams and posts from century-old structures. We hand select our beams to ensure their quality and appearance will be everlasting. You can purchase these barn beams solid or hollow, hand hewn, resawn, original surface or a surface sanded. These old barn beams will contain saw marks from the original milling or axe cuts from the carpenter who carved them by hand hundreds of years ago. They may also contain mortise and tenon holes that can either be filled in or left as is.
Species often include Oak, Pine, Fir, Hemlock and Heart Pine. These authentic rustic hand hewn timbers are very dry and seasoned, and are much more stable and are less likely to experience shrinkage than that of green timbers.
